App of the Week: PBS

Its estimated that Apple sold around 4 million iPhones with their last launch of the 4s. That means their are tons of new iPhone users out there (sorry android). As an owner of an original iPhone 4 and an iPad, I have stayed on the look out for any apps that may spark a creative fire in me on the go.

Today I'll talk about the PBS app.

We all grew up on PBS no matter what age you are. I'll never forget the countdown pinball machine that was on Sesame Street when I was a child.

As for the app....... its FREE, which is the most important part even though I wouldn't hesitate to pay $.99 for it.

The program opens up to a list of their featured programs that will be or have already aired. Programs that haven't aired you can check out a small sample of and programs that have aired you can watch fully under the featured tab. You can also click on the schedule tab to see when a certain show is coming on in your area.

The best part of this app is when you click on the programs tab.

Now I could go into all the great wonderful shows PBS has to offer such History Detective's, Austin City Limits, American Masters, and NOVA, but the real reason I'm writing this is because of the great Commentaries that are offered in ART: 21.

There are 21 full length Commentary's on a range of artist. These chronicles offer deep insights to not only how go about finding inspiration of their art, but also the hardships they went through in the art world, and how the lives they live were effected by.

If you get a chance check out the first documentary, William Kentridge: Anything Is Possible.

Very talented and somewhat comical artist who has been seen and been through a lot. The South African artist who uses animation, puppets, and video installations , among other things is considered one of the most exciting Contemporary artist working today. Its still amazes me after watching it a couple of times where he draws his creativity from.

As I sat back thinking what would be the perfect intro into the blogging community I had to ponder what exactly am I blogging for. Now this should come easy because I would have never got to this point if I had no idea what I was here for, but I needed a deeper reason realizing the fact that actually nobody may ever read this.

So I started from the beginning, I questioned who I was as an artist.....and simply I'm a beginner....kind of.

I started painting around high school and fell in love with it after a college class I took for an easy "A" (which wasn't so easy). Since then I've been painting off and on for friends and family for gifts and such. Now I wish I had that life where I could quit and travel the world studying art, but who does these days. I do plan on going back to school and hope to purse a degree in Art History and eventually teach at the college level.

So this is just a blog where I'll chronicle my life in the Art World. Books I'm readying, paintings I am working on, great articles I've read, and any other things I come across in the World Wide Web that sparks our Artistic Entrepreneurial minds.
